The Act formally outlaws discrimination whether on the grounds of age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, race, religion, pregnancy and maternity, or marriage and civil partnership.
Today an employment tribunal brought by a Jaguar Land Rover employee reported experiencing harassment and discrimination due to their gender identity.
Jaguar Land Rover, rather than acting on the problem, chose to go to court and argue that non-binary people were not covered by the Equality Act, and so . Descargar discografia sumo mediafire.
However the court saw otherwise, declaring that gender is a spectrum and that the identities of non-binary people are clearly protected in law. It duly ruled in favour of Mx Taylor finding that there had been constructive dismissal on the part of Jaguar Land Rover.

Old Square Chambers reports that, “The Tribunal noted that the question of whether a gender fluid / non-binary person fell within section 7, EqA 2010 was a novel point of law. During submissions there was reference to Hansard comments made during the Equality Bill parliamentary debates in 2009. It was noted that the Solicitor-General referred to a gender “spectrum” and that gender reassignment “concerns a personal journey and moving a gender identity away from birth sex”. The Tribunal held it was “clear… that gender is a spectrum” and that it is “beyond any doubt” that the Claimant fell within the definition of section 7, EqA 2010.
“The implication of this judgment is that other complex gender identities may also fall within the definition of gender reassignment under section 7, EqA 2010 where individuals propose to undergo a process of moving their gender identity away from their birth gender.”
BCN says: At a time when respect for diversity and identity is under increasing attack in the public and political sphere this is a welcome ruling. It may not directly affect us as bisexual people but the people troubled by non-binary gender and wanting to silence non-binary voices on gender tend to have the very same attitudes to sexual orientation as well.
